Q: What is a normal day like?
A: First of all no day is really normal, we're always ready for any sort of not-normal event to rise up in our day to day life. However on a "normal" weekday students will wake up, get ready, do chores, eat breakfast, and meet together by 8am. At that time we either have live worship, have a devotion, a teaching or discussion with our team. Then from 10:15-12 we work on our academics. At 12 we all eat lunch together and then prepare to go do whatever that day's afternoon activity is. Some examples of what we do in the afternoons are:
-helping out at the senior center
-inreach at the church
-classroom training
-youth ministry
-food bank ministry
-helping out at the local high school
-acts of service
-helping out at homeless shelters
-really anything we can do in anyway to make God known
Q: What sort of trips do you go on?
A: We go on at least 2 trips to the villages of Alaska which are very rural parts of our state, often without plumbing or running water and that can only be reached by plane. We also go on a couple road trips throughout the year. Some places might take 8 hours to drive to and some may require a ferry ride to reach. On our road trips we'll stop and do services and events at multiple churches in multiple towns and cities within Alaska.
Q: What are the rules on dating?
A: The heart of Master's Commission isn't for people to find their mates for life, it's to find Jesus, and so, dating is not allowed for at least the first year.
